This means I gather, that Mr. Collisson will

retire at the end of his present leave i.e. on
24th November.
Please let me know whether I am right in
assuming that I can inform officers whom I sound
that the salary is £1350 per annum with free
quarters reckoned at £150 a year for pension
purposes (as in paragraph 5 of despatch of 20th
November 1936 - No. 6 on Hong Kong 53723/36).
From a minute by Mr. Acheson dated 29.6.37, I
understand that this has been accepted by the
Governor and formally approved by the Secretary
of State; but I have not heard whether the new
salaries have actually been brought into force yet.
